Born in Puerto Rico whom has claim Nova Scotia as his new home, brings passion and the true understanding of food by adapting modern cuisine methods by utilizing local Nova Scotian products.

Chef Clavel received his Red Seal Certificate in 2001. Since this time, he has mentored many chefs and has been involved in the development of cooks from the high school level until they receive their Red Seal certification since 2008, as well as the development of the National Red Seal certififcate for the country. Chef Clavel has been the manager of Culinary Team Nova Scotia and in 2013 was proudly invited to represent our country at the international world stage as a core member on Culinary Team Canada.

Chef Clavel was selected as the Nova Scotia ‘Chef of the Year’ in 2008, 2009 and Atlantic chef of the year, Chef Clavel was invited to cook at the prestigious James Beard House representing Canadian cuisine. In 2007, he was awarded Chef Rôtisseurs title for the prestigious Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, an International Association of Gastronomy.

Many of his accolades are recognized at the national and international level representing Nova Scotia and Canada in the world in culinary competitions.
