Mike Sixonate is a songwriter with a love for Newfoundlands history and music. He has been writing music for as long as he could hold a pen. His lyrics always have a tale to go with them and his music and stage persona are something that many people from all over the country have enjoyed. After many years of playing and arranging he has taken up a music residency in Twillingate NL where he performs 6 nights a week at The Captains Pub. A born story teller and a fantastic arranger of songs both new and old his performance is sure to be a memorable one.
One thing people notice when they watch Mike perform is that he doesn’t use a pick and has a very one-of-a-kind way of playing his guitar. The percussive strumming as well as the gentle touch of the nylon strings creates a sound that is like none you have heard before. His original music is well thought out and comes from the mind and hands of a creator and artist. His voice is suited to his music and his songs are easy to fall in love with.
Mike also hosts a songwriters event called “Poets and Pickers” that has seen him share the stage with many of Newfoundlands prominent songwriters and musicians.
