Roary MacPherson is a five-time James Beard Foundation presenter, two-time Culinary Olympic competitor where he brought home a bronze medal, two-time Gold Medal Plates St. John’s bronze medal winner, he won the Good Food Innovations award for Food day Canada in 2011 and 2012, and Best menu award for Food day Canada.
After all that, it’s obvious that Roary is no stranger to competitions both local, national and international. Besides his competitive nature, though, Roary has worked all across the country and back again with Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, Delta Hotels and resorts and Fortis Properties.
He is a big promoter of others in the province, as well, through his trips to the James Beard house where there have been in excess of 25 Newfoundland chef’s. Also a firm believer in upgrading his skills, Roary has completed his Chef De Cuisine certification and is a Certified Food and Beverage Executive. Roary continues to be a huge part of the community as well with countless charitable events with many organizations from Children’s Wish, Anglican Church of Newfoundland projects, and Autism causes just to name a few.
Roary continues to promote the province as well, in the past organizing the rural portion of the From This Rock culinary road show and also helping organize the inaugural Mid-Winter Bivver Snowmobile event In Grand Falls Windsor. Besides all that, he’s also taken on the role as Head Chef for The Gathering, leading a team of NL’s premiere culinary experts to provide the best food experience possible.
