Chef Shaun Hussey is a locally renowned chef from Conception Bay South, Newfoundland. Over his career, Shaun has honed his craft at various restaurants in places including Bolton Landing, New York; Nantucket, Massachusetts; St. Martin, Dutch West Indies and Fogo Island.
In August of 2010, Shaun and his wife, Michelle LeBlanc, returned to the St. John’s area and opened Chinched, a place where both Shaun and Michelle could showcase their passion for Newfoundland culture, food, and the preservation of traditional techniques. Shaun is especially recognized for his proficiency in “nose to tail” cooking which is highlighted in the preparation of the notable Charcuterie program at Chinched.
The hard work of the Chinched team has been recognized over the last few years. In April of 2014, Karl Wells of the St. John’s Telegram awarded Shaun and Chinched a 4 star review, the highest possible rating. The following year, Michelle & Shaun were awarded Entrepreneurs of the Year by the Canadian Culinary Federation of Cooks & Chefs as well as Restaurateur of the Year by the Restaurant Association of Newfoundland and Labrador.
